The Young Scholars Project is a collaboration between USC and secondary schools in our regional footprint. The project is an enrichment exercise for Year 9 and Year 11 Science students, designed to inspire and encourage the next generation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics practitioners.
Year 9 Young Scholars
If you are a Year 9 student, you will be taking part in The Global Innovators Challenge. You will visit USC for a day of hands-on activities and collaborative learning around the issues of energy, water and food scarcity in a developing African village. You will explore how you might use STEM to tackle this real world issue.
Year 11 Young Scholars
The Sum of our Parts is a Year 11 Biology module which focuses specifically on the interactive systems of the human body. You will come to USC to experience a number of hand-on activities across a broad range of disciplines including:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Research Skills
Each activity will enrich your understanding of the symbiotic relationship of cells within multi-cellular organisms. This module is designed to speak directly to YOU, as we encourage you to make the connection between the theory and its application to your daily life, and the world beyond you. In some cases, you may be asked by your teachers to respond to an assessment task based on your school-based Biology lessons and the USC Immersive Day material.
